George Ford Aims for Quick Return After Quad Injury

England fly-half George Ford has received positive news regarding his quad injury, with confirmation that surgery will not be required. The 31-year-old, who suffered the injury during Sale Sharks’ recent loss to Saracens, had initially raised concerns that he could miss England’s November internationals.

However, following a consultation, Ford is now targeting a return for England’s opener against New Zealand on 2 November. Sale Sharks announced that Ford would begin his rehabilitation immediately, with the club and player confident that his absence will be shorter than initially feared.

Despite the optimism, Ford is expected to miss at least two Premiership games, allowing Harlequins’ Marcus Smith and Northampton’s Fin Smith to compete for the England No. 10 shirt in his absence. Marcus Smith, who stepped in for Ford during the summer Tests against New Zealand, will likely be the favorite to start should Ford not recover in time.

Ford’s potential return is crucial for England, as they face a demanding series of autumn fixtures, including matches against New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, and Japan.
