Ganduje Threatens Legal Action Against ENSIEC Over APC Faction Recognition

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has threatened to take legal action against the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) for its failure to recognize the faction of the party led by Ugochukwu Agballah in the upcoming September 21 council polls. This comes after the ENSIEC continued to acknowledge a faction led by Alphonsus Nwafor, which had suspended Agballah and other executive members, even obtaining a court injunction against Agballah’s leadership.

In a letter dated August 26, 2024, addressed to ENSIEC Chairman Prof. Christian C. Ngwu, Ganduje accused the Commission of undermining the APC by dealing with what he described as “faceless persons” not officially recognized by the party. Ganduje asserted that Agballah remains the legitimate Chairman of the APC in Enugu State and should be the official liaison between the party and ENSIEC for the forthcoming local government elections.

Ganduje warned that if ENSIEC continues to engage with the Nwafor faction, the APC would have no choice but to pursue legal action to seek redress. He emphasized that the party is not currently involved in any valid lawsuit in Enugu State that would affect its operations or leadership.

This development highlights ongoing internal conflicts within the APC in Enugu State and sets the stage for a potential legal battle over party representation in the local government elections.
