Fruit Trader Confesses to Killing Childhood Friend for Motorcycle Theft

In a shocking revelation, a 39-year-old fruit trader, Babalola Dolapo, has confessed to the gruesome murder of his childhood friend, Evangelist Opeyemi Oyelakin, in Ondo State. Dolapo admitted to the crime after being apprehended by police detectives, disclosing that he killed Oyelakin, stole his motorcycle, and disposed of his body in a pit on Oke-Igbo Road in Oke-Igbo/Ile-Oluji Local Government Area.

According to Dolapo, he sold the stolen motorcycle for N130,000 after committing the murder. He further revealed that he carried out the crime in collaboration with one Sikiru Mutiu, who is currently on the run.

Expressing remorse, Dolapo attributed his actions to the influence of the devil, acknowledging that Oyelakin was a close friend. He recounted hitting Oyelakin with a stone during a struggle while attempting to steal the motorcycle, resulting in the tragic outcome. Dolapo emphasized that he had never resorted to violence in previous theft incidents and expressed bewilderment over his actions.

Commissioner of Police Abayomi Oladipo condemned the callous act and led detectives to recover Oyelakin’s decomposing body from the pit where it was dumped. He criticized the failure of farm owners in the area to alert the police despite the foul odor emanating from the site for several days.

Detailing the incident, Oladipo revealed that Dolapo and Mutiu deceived Oyelakin into taking them to a farm area, where they brutally attacked him and concealed his body in the bush. He urged caution among motorcycle riders, advising them to be wary of passengers engaging their services for journeys to isolated areas.
