FRSC Launches Special Operations Against Transport of Inflammable Substances in Passenger Vehicles

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has initiated a special operation to crack down on the transportation of petroleum and other inflammable substances in passenger vehicles. The directive, issued by FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, was announced in a statement by Public Education Officer Olusegun Ogungbemide and is effective immediately.

The operation involves deploying patrol teams across national highways to identify vehicles carrying such dangerous goods. Upon detection, the contents will be emptied into the vehicle’s fuel tank. Additionally, the FRSC will conduct awareness campaigns to educate drivers and passengers about the risks of transporting inflammable substances.

The FRSC also emphasized that drivers could face prosecution for endangering passenger safety by transporting such materials. This measure aims to reduce fire-related traffic accidents, which have been linked to the carriage of petroleum products in vehicles.

Passengers are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to FRSC patrol teams or via emergency lines to help ensure safer travel conditions.
