Nigerian record producer and singer, Moses Kayode Phillips, popularly known as Pheelz, has unveiled a lesser-known facet of his musical journey, revealing his longstanding passion for singing even during his tenure as the in-house producer for YBNL.

In a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM in Lagos, Pheelz disclosed that his musical repertoire extended beyond production, with several artists he worked with releasing songs that he had initially penned for himself. This revelation sheds light on Pheelz’s multifaceted talents and his integral role in shaping the sound of Nigerian music.

The ‘Finesse’ crooner delved into the pivotal moment that spurred his decision to transition from behind-the-scenes producer to a full-fledged artist. Pheelz candidly shared that his battle with COVID-19 served as a wake-up call, prompting him to reevaluate his life and aspirations.

“COVID-19 happened, and I had to really think about my life because I caught the virus and almost died,” Pheelz recounted. The near-death experience compelled him to confront his deepest desires and aspirations, leading to a profound realization: “I have to die empty if at all.”
