Frank Leboeuf Criticizes Chelsea Owners and Players After Draw with Burnley

Following Chelsea’s disappointing 2-2 draw with 10-man Burnley, former Blues star Frank Leboeuf didn’t hold back in his criticism, directing it towards the club’s owners and players.

Leboeuf’s remarks centered on what he perceives as the damaging influence of Chelsea’s owners on the club’s fortunes. He accused them of causing significant harm, suggesting that rebuilding the club would be a daunting task in light of their actions.

In an interview with ESPN, Leboeuf expressed frustration, stating, “Sorry, but the people on the board have destroyed this club.” He lamented the lack of experienced players to rely on and suggested that building a team without such figures would be challenging, particularly when trying to develop young talent through the academy.

Turning his attention to the players, Leboeuf criticized their performance and attitude during the match. He asserted that they lacked stamina, heart, and intelligence, describing their display as unprofessional and unfair to the club’s supporters. Leboeuf went as far as to say that 10-man Burnley should have emerged victorious and expressed sympathy for the fans who witnessed the disappointing performance.

Since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital assumed ownership of Chelsea in 2022, the club has made substantial investments in the transfer market. However, despite significant spending, Chelsea find themselves struggling in mid-table, facing a stark reality of breaching profit and sustainability regulations.
