Formula 1 has called upon Red Bull Racing to promptly address the controversy surrounding team principal Christian Horner, who faces allegations of inappropriate behavior towards a female colleague.
Horner, who has led Red Bull Racing since 2005, has denied the allegations, asserting his commitment to cooperating with the investigation process. Formula 1 emphasized the importance of a fair and thorough investigation, urging for a swift resolution to the matter.
In response to the allegations, Red Bull Racing initiated an independent investigation led by an external specialist barrister. While the company refrained from disclosing further details, it assured a comprehensive and expedited inquiry.
The ongoing investigation has prompted cautious responses from stakeholders, including Formula 1 and prospective partner Ford. Mark Rushbrook, global head of Ford Performance Motorsport, underscored the company’s commitment to integrity, expressing confidence in Red Bull’s handling of the situation pending the investigation’s outcome.
Amidst the unfolding controversy, the FIA, Formula 1’s governing body, has opted not to comment, respecting the ongoing investigative process.
Red Bull Racing’s pre-season testing in Bahrain is imminent, scheduled from 21-23 February. Despite the ongoing investigation, Horner expressed his intention to be present in the paddock during the testing sessions.
