Flooding Threatens Food Security in Nigeria, Says Bauchi Governor

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Muhammed, has expressed concern over the recent flooding incidents across Nigeria, highlighting the impact on food security. Speaking after a National Economic Council (NEC) meeting presided over by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Muhammed noted that several states, particularly in the northeast, have experienced severe damage to infrastructure, including schools and farmlands.

The flooding, he said, is expected to affect harvests, exacerbating food shortages. The NEC has asked affected states to submit damage reports by September 9, 2024, as part of efforts to address the situation.
