A late-night fire engulfed the Obasanjo Trailer Park located along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway axis in Ogere, Ogun State, destroying one tanker and several makeshift shops.
The blaze reportedly broke out around 11 pm on Saturday, originating from one of the shops before spreading to a truck undergoing repairs at the park.
Eyewitness accounts, including one from Musa who was present at the scene, described how residents collaborated to contain the fire using buckets to fetch water from nearby gutters due to the absence of firefighters in the vicinity.
“The fire started about 11 pm when we were already sleeping. I just heard a loud blast, and before we realised what was happening, there was a fire outbreak,” Musa recounted.
Efforts from park occupants managed to bring the situation under control, minimizing further damage to surrounding structures.
