Finance Minister Wale Edun Launches Performance Management System to Boost Efficiency

The Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, has launched a new Performance Management System (PMS) aimed at enhancing staff productivity and improving the management of Nigeria’s finances. The launch, held in Abuja, aligns with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 (FCSSIP 25), which aims to drive reforms across the civil service.

According to the Ministry’s Director of Information, Mr. Mohammed Manga, the PMS is designed to foster transparency, accountability, and efficiency in handling public funds. Minister Edun stressed the importance of the system in achieving national development objectives, noting, “The public service plays a vital role in realizing government policies, and an effective PMS is key to boosting productivity.”

To reinforce the system’s integration, Edun declared Thursdays as “Performance Management System Day” in the Ministry, urging staff to adopt a culture of excellence. The Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya, also noted that the PMS would help the ministry track progress and make informed decisions, marking a significant step towards improving service delivery and financial management.
