FG Establishes Task Forces to Boost Aviation Sector Through PPPs

In a bid to unlock the economic potential of Nigeria’s aviation sector, the Federal Government has set up task forces within the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) and the Ministry of Aviation to fast-track investment in Public Private Partnerships (PPPs). This development followed a meeting between the Director-General of ICRC, Dr. Jobson Oseodion Ewalefoh, and the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo SAN, in Abuja on Monday.

Dr. Ewalefoh emphasized the importance of aviation as a key driver of economic growth, citing examples from other countries like the UK and Kenya, which have successfully leveraged private sector investments to boost infrastructure. He noted that Nigeria, with its large population and strategic position, holds immense potential for similar investments.

To ensure swift and efficient delivery of projects, the Minister of Aviation immediately established a task force in the ministry to collaborate with the ICRC’s team, reflecting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes PPPs for infrastructure development.

Keyamo reiterated the ministry’s commitment to speeding up the implementation of PPP proposals, setting timelines for key projects, and ensuring robust collaboration with the ICRC to meet the country’s infrastructure needs in the aviation sector.
