The Ogun State Police Command has announced the arrest of Chizoke Obiadada, aged 54, and his 17-year-old son, Micheal, for the fatal beating of their neighbor’s wife, Tope Owoade, in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area of the state.

The tragic incident occurred on Thursday, March 28, 2024, as confirmed by SP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the state police command, in a statement released on Saturday. According to the statement, the suspects engaged the deceased in a fight over seating arrangements on a table used for selling cow skin, popularly known as “ponmo.”

Tope Owoade’s husband, Isiaka, reported the incident to the police at the Ogijo Divisional Headquarters. He narrated that upon his return from a journey, his wife informed him that Chizoke Obiadada and his son, Micheal, had mercilessly beaten her, inflicting fatal injuries. Despite her caution against sitting on the work table, the altercation led to severe bleeding from her womb and private parts.

Efforts to seek medical attention at Main Frame Private Hospital and Kunle Hospital, Atan Agowa, were futile as the victim was rejected. Tragically, Tope Owoade succumbed to her injuries while being transported to a government hospital.

Following the report, the Ogijo Divisional Police Officer ordered the immediate arrest of the culprits, who are currently undergoing preliminary investigations. The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further discreet investigation, as stated by Odutola.
