The collision between a cargo ship and the Lixinsha Bridge in southern China has resulted in a tragic incident, with at least five people reported killed and one crew member injured. According to Chinese state media, the cargo ship crashed into the bridge, causing it to split in half. The maritime search and rescue center in Guangzhou reported that two vehicles fell into the water, while three others landed on the vessel. Dramatic images captured the aftermath, showing the severe damage to the bridge and the ship lodged underneath.
Emergency response teams have been deployed to the scene, with ongoing efforts to rescue any individuals affected by the accident. Two individuals have been successfully rescued so far. The Lixinsha Bridge is a vital transportation link in Guangzhou’s Nansha district, known for its importance as an international shipping hub.
