Fatal Clash Between Rival Youths Claims Lives in Plateau State

Tragic reports emerge from the Mikang Local Government Area of Plateau State as several individuals are feared dead following a clash between rival youth groups. The confrontation, which erupted on Saturday night and persisted into the early hours of Sunday, reportedly left many injured and properties damaged.

The state Commissioner for Information, Musa Ashoms, confirmed the distressing development, attributing the violence to a dispute over land in the area. Ashoms lamented the loss of lives and injuries sustained during the conflict, emphasizing the need for peaceful resolution of disputes to prevent such tragic incidents.

According to Ashoms, the initial dispute stemmed from contested land, escalating into a violent confrontation between Taroh and Motola youths. Despite efforts to de-escalate the situation, the clash intensified, resulting in casualties and property destruction.

The commissioner urged residents to embrace alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and refrain from resorting to violence. He stressed the importance of dialogue and mediation in resolving conflicts to prevent further loss of lives and property damage.

Meanwhile, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Alabo Alfred, disclosed that security operatives have been deployed to the troubled area to restore calm. Alfred assured that investigations into the incident are ongoing to apprehend perpetrators and prevent future occurrences.
