Tragedy struck along the Katsina-Ala-Zaki Biam Road in Benue State as a fatal auto crash claimed the lives of at least 12 people on Wednesday. The accident, which occurred around 12:32 pm, involved two vehicles and resulted in multiple fatalities.
According to an eyewitness, the accident was caused by one of the drivers attempting to avoid a pothole and subsequently colliding head-on with an oncoming vehicle. The eyewitness, speaking anonymously, reported that the collision resulted in the death of 12 individuals, with nine passengers in the commercial Golf vehicle and three occupants in the private Nissan car among the casualties.
Sadly, the four individuals who sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital also succumbed to their wounds, bringing the total number of fatalities to 12.
Confirming the incident, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Steve Ayodele, stated that the crash claimed the lives of eight people, including four female adults, one male adult, and one female child. Two individuals sustained injuries and were promptly transported to Katsina-Ala General Hospital for medical treatment.
