A tragic accident on the Ijebu-Ode-Ore-Benin Expressway claimed two lives and left three others injured, according to a statement by Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). The incident occurred around 8:24 pm near Ogbere Junction and involved a DAF truck and a Volvo truck.

The victims, all male adults, were reportedly trapped inside one of the vehicles involved in the crash. Despite rescue efforts by the FRSC Ogbere Outpost Command, two individuals lost their lives, while the injured were rushed to the General Hospital in Ijebu Ode for medical attention.

The spokesperson attributed the cause of the accident to route violation and excessive speed, emphasizing the need for motorists to adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such tragedies. The crash resulted in the temporary diversion of traffic from inward Benin to outward to avoid further incidents.

Expressing his condolences, Sector Commander Anthony Uga lamented the prevalence of excessive speeding among motorists, a factor often leading to fatal accidents. He reiterated the importance of controlling speed and complying with set limits, emphasizing the directive for all commercial vehicles to install speed limit devices to mitigate road accidents.
