Eniola Ajao Clarifies Controversial Award Decision at ‘Ajakaju’ Movie Premiere

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Eniola Ajao has shed light on the controversial decision to award popular crossdresser Bobrisky the title of “Best Dressed Female” at the recent premiere of her movie, ‘Ajakaju,’ in Lagos.

Controversy erupted following Bobrisky’s unexpected win, prompting speculation and criticism from various quarters. However, Ajao has now revealed that the award was intended as a playful stunt to generate buzz and draw attention to the film.

In a recent interview with Arise TV, Ajao clarified the rationale behind the decision, emphasizing that it was all in good fun. “It was all jokes. We just want to have fun. We want people to talk about the movie,” she explained. “My team and I decided that it needed to be in the faces of people. So we decided to give the Best Dressed Female award to Bobrisky since he has always been a very controversial person.”

Ajao further addressed the backlash directed at actor Femi Adebayo, who presented the award, stressing that he was merely following instructions and was not involved in the judging process. “They started calling out Femi Adebayo who presented the award. He just presented it, it wasn’t his idea, he was not part of the judges. Nigerians shouldn’t slam him, please,” she urged, urging viewers to refrain from criticizing Adebayo for his role in the event.
