The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained Kayode Cole for issuing a death threat against its Chairman, Ola Olukoyede. Cole was apprehended in the Lugbe area of Abuja after making the threat via his Instagram handle, “1billionsecretss,” in response to an Instablog9ja post on February 1, 2024.
According to the EFCC statement shared on its official platform, operatives arrested Cole on Monday, March 18, 2024. The arrest followed Cole’s comment on an Instablog9ja post regarding money laundering activities involving religious groups in Nigeria. In his comment, Cole threatened that the EFCC Chairman would be dead in six months.
During interrogation, Cole claimed he was merely seeking attention. However, he will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
