Engr. Marvellous Godwins Omobayo has declared his status as the authentic Deputy Governor of Edo State, affirming his commitment to performing his duties as outlined by the Nigerian Constitution. Omobayo’s statement came during a solidarity visit from leaders and members of three major transport unions in the state.
The unions—National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), and Edo State Drivers Welfare Scheme—gathered to show their support for Omobayo amidst ongoing legal disputes concerning the Deputy Governor’s office.
Despite the litigation challenges, Omobayo assured that his focus remains on supporting Governor Godwin Obaseki in driving the economic growth and development of Edo State. He expressed gratitude to the unions for their steadfast support since he took office and praised their loyalty to the Governor.
In the visit, RTEAN Chairman Comrade Monday Orhue and NURTW Chairman Chief Odion Olaye reiterated their confidence in Omobayo’s position. They used the opportunity to affirm their backing for both Omobayo and the Obaseki administration, expressing hope for a successful conclusion to Obaseki’s term.
