Edo Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board Issues Deposit Directive for 2025 Hajj Pilgrims

The Edo Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced that individuals intending to embark on the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage must make an initial deposit of N8.4 million each, pending the final fare announcement from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

Sheikh Ibrahim Oyarekhua, the chairman of the board, conveyed this directive during a press conference in Benin on Sunday. He emphasized that early deposits are essential due to a new policy implemented by Saudi Arabia, which mandates payments to be made two months before Arafat day.

Oyarekhua noted that the final Hajj fare is typically announced two to three weeks before the payment deadline. He urged intending pilgrims to make deposits to streamline the payment process. “The board is sensitizing Muslim communities about the importance of deposits, even if they can’t pay the full N8.4 million initially,” he stated.

Reflecting on the previous year’s successful Hajj operations, Oyarekhua mentioned that all pilgrims received their visas before departing for Saudi Arabia, a result of the new policy. He encouraged intending pilgrims to deposit any amount into the board’s account to secure their place for the pilgrimage.
