Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah is reportedly seeking a summer exit, with Marseille expressing a strong interest in securing his services as they look to revamp their squad.
Marseille’s Interest and Squad Overhaul: Marseille has initiated talks with Arsenal, aiming to sign Nketiah on a permanent deal as a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who recently joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah. The French club, under new head coach Roberto De Zerbi, is undergoing significant changes following a disappointing Ligue 1 season that saw them miss out on European football.
Strategic Moves: Alongside the appointment of De Zerbi, Marseille has already signed Mason Greenwood and is reportedly close to adding Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to their ranks. The club’s focus has now shifted to Nketiah, who is under contract with Arsenal until 2027 but is looking for more playing time given the competition he faces at the Emirates Stadium.
Potential and Fit: According to Foot Mercato, Nketiah, 25, has shown promise during his tenure at Arsenal and is viewed by Marseille as a suitable candidate to fulfill their striker needs. While the club also considered Wolves’ Hwang Hee-chan, they have prioritized securing Nketiah if a deal can be reached this summer.
