Ed Sheeran Credits Rihanna as Inspiration for Hit Song ‘Shape Of You’

 

Grammy-winning British artist Ed Sheeran has unveiled the muse behind his chart-topping hit “Shape Of You,” none other than Barbadian sensation Rihanna.

In a recent interview with Hits Radio, Sheeran disclosed the influential role Rihanna played in shaping his creative process. He lauded Rihanna’s versatility, describing her as “genre-less” and the epitome of inspiration for songwriters. Sheeran revealed, “When I wrote Shape Of You, the person I was writing in my mind for was Rihanna.”

“Shape Of You,” released on January 6, 2017, emerged as one of the flagship singles from Sheeran’s third studio album, ‘Divide.’ The track soared to the heights of success, clinching the Grammy Award for Best Pop Solo Performance at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards.
