Drake’s Million-Dollar Gamble Falls Flat: Heavyweight Boxing Loss Adds to Celebrity’s Sports Betting Woes

Canadian rap sensation Drake faced another major setback in his sports betting endeavors, losing a staggering £478,000 on a bet that Francis Ngannou would triumph over Anthony Joshua in a heavyweight boxing showdown on Friday.

Drake, who was anticipating a massive payday exceeding £1 million, watched as Joshua swiftly dispatched Ngannou in a mere two rounds. The British boxer’s devastating knockout left the former UFC champion requiring medical attention in the ring before eventually regaining his feet.

This defeat marks another chapter in Drake’s ongoing losing streak in combat sports. In January, the 37-year-old suffered a loss of over half-a-million pounds when he backed Sean Strickland in a failed bid to defend his UFC middleweight championship against Dricus Du Plessis.

Notably, Drake’s fortunes took a hit earlier when he lost £430,000 as Israel Adesanya succumbed to an unexpected defeat against Strickland in the octagon. Prior to that, the rap star had placed a hefty £700,000 bet on Logan Paul to beat Dillon Danis in the boxing ring.
