Don Jazzy Avoids Same-Day Releases with Wizkid and Asake for Mavin Artists

Ace music executive and Mavin Records CEO Don Jazzy has revealed he strategically avoids releasing his artists’ music on the same day as Nigerian music heavyweights Wizkid and Asake.

In a podcast interview with Fisayo Fosudo, Don Jazzy explained that releasing music concurrently with Wizkid or Asake would be detrimental. “We [Mavin] are moving from the traditional Friday release date to Wednesdays and Thursdays because there are no more Fridays [without another artist dropping a song],” he said. “If my artiste is to drop a song or project on a Friday and Wizkid or Asake is also releasing that day, I will move our release date because you don’t want to just die a natural death.”

Mavin Records, home to stars like Rema, Ayra Starr, Crayon, Magixx, Boy Spyce, Johnny Drille, and Lifesize Teddy, adopts this strategy to ensure their releases gain the attention they deserve without competing with the streaming dominance of Wizkid and Asake.
