Embattled American rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been placed on suicide watch at the Metropolitan Detention Centre (MDC) in New York following his arrest on federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges. The 54-year-old was placed under the watch as a preventative measure.
On Tuesday, U.S. Magistrate Judge Robyn Tarnofsky ordered Diddy’s detention as he awaits trial. However, his attorney, Marc Agnifilo, told TMZ that the suicide watch is a standard precaution for high-profile inmates. “[He’s] not at all suicidal. He was healthy, strong, confident and focused on his defense,” Agnifilo stated after spending six hours with the rapper on Thursday.
The duration of Diddy’s placement under suicide watch remains unclear.
