NEW YORK – Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested on September 16, 2024, in New York following a federal grand jury indictment on charges related to racketeering and sex trafficking. The arrest comes amid an ongoing investigation into multiple allegations of sexual abuse and trafficking against the hip-hop icon, whose empire spans music, fashion, and business.
While the specific details of the indictment remain sealed, federal officials have indicated they will unseal the charges in the coming days. Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, has condemned the arrest, describing it as an “unjust prosecution” of an “imperfect person” who is not a criminal. “We ask the public to withhold judgment until all facts are revealed,” Agnifilo told TMZ.
The arrest is the latest in a series of troubling accusations against Combs, dating back to November 2023 when his former girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, filed a lawsuit accusing him of sexual abuse, trafficking, and physical violence during their decade-long relationship. Although Combs settled with Ventura just a day after the lawsuit was filed, more allegations have surfaced, including multiple lawsuits from other women accusing him of sexual abuse, violence, and drug-related misconduct.
In response to the growing legal pressure, Combs has repeatedly denied the accusations, maintaining his innocence and describing many of the claims as fabricated or opportunistic. In recent months, Combs has been fighting to dismiss several lawsuits, including one filed by music producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, who accused him of sexual misconduct and drugging.
Combs’ legal battles have only intensified, with the most recent lawsuit filed by singer Dawn Richard on September 11, 2024, accusing the mogul of years of psychological and physical abuse during her time working with him. Despite these mounting challenges, Combs’ team continues to argue that the allegations are a media-driven attack.
Damian Williams, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, confirmed Combs’ arrest, with the indictment set to be unsealed soon. As the case develops, all eyes remain on the unfolding legal saga surrounding one of the music industry’s most prominent figures.
