Nigerian artist, Dice Ailes, has taken to social media to expose what he alleges as Sony Music’s hindrance to the distribution of his music. Despite a prior mutually agreed termination of their longstanding contract due to stagnated progress and unmet expectations, Dice Ailes claims that certain restrictions from the deal persist, negatively impacting his company’s marketing processes and investments.
In a statement, Dice Ailes expressed his frustration, stating, “I have been in business with Sony Music for years, and sometime last year, we mutually agreed to terminate the contract because progress was stagnated and also we didn’t get the kind of investments we were expecting.”
He continued, “Unfortunately, we still have some restrictions from that deal that are affecting the flow of things, our marking processes, and investments for my company. I was just really tired. The fans have been clamoring for new music from me for so long. And 2024 is just so important to me, for the fans to get the best of me. So out of frustration, I had to go on social media to call out Sony Music.”
Dice Ailes’ public call-out shines a light on the complexities artists may face even after parting ways with major record labels, emphasizing the impact on their ability to deliver new content to their eager fan base.
