In a decisive victory, Dennis Idahosa, a member of the House of Representatives, has emerged triumphant in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election held in Edo State. The election, conducted on Saturday, witnessed Idahosa securing a commanding total of 40,483 votes, thus securing the party’s candidacy for the forthcoming September 21 governorship election in the state.
The announcement of the results was made by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, who also serves as the chairman of the APC primary election committee. Governor Uzodimma confirmed that Idahosa, having garnered the highest number of votes among the nine aspirants, clinched the coveted position as the APC’s candidate for the governorship race.
Addressing the media, Governor Uzodimma acknowledged a minor logistical issue regarding the location of the committee’s secretariat. He clarified that the authentic secretariat for the committee was at the Protea Hotel, contrary to earlier announcements made at the Lushville Hotel. Despite this administrative mix-up, the integrity of the electoral process remained intact, ensuring a fair and transparent outcome.
Dennis Idahosa’s resounding victory underscores the confidence reposed in his leadership abilities and vision for the development of Edo State. With a strong mandate from the APC primary election, Idahosa now embarks on a journey to articulate his agenda and garner support from the electorate ahead of the pivotal governorship election in September.
