Deniz Undav scored twice to secure a 2-1 victory for Germany against Bosnia-Herzegovina in the Nations League. The Stuttgart striker opened the scoring with a fine first-time finish from Florian Wirtz’s assist.
Shortly after, debutant Tim Kleindienst had a goal ruled out for offside, keeping Bosnia in the game. The hosts almost equalized when Ermedin Demirovic struck the post, but Germany quickly capitalized with Undav netting his second from a Maximilian Mittelstadt cross, doubling the lead.
Undav, earning only his fifth international cap, thought he had completed his hat-trick, and Serge Gnabry also saw an effort ruled out for offside.
Veteran Edin Dzeko, 38, gave Bosnia a lifeline with a well-placed header, but the hosts couldn’t find an equalizer, and Germany held on for the win in Zenica.
