Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has expressed profound grief and extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims tragically lost in a boat accident, including Nollywood actor Junior Pope. The governor described their untimely demise as excruciating and unfortunate, emphasizing the need for enhanced safety measures to prevent such tragedies.
The boat accident, which occurred on Anam River while the actors were en route to a movie location, has deeply saddened the state government and the entire Nollywood industry. Governor Oborevwori conveyed his condolences in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Festus Ahon, in Asaba, the state capital.
In his message, Governor Oborevwori expressed solidarity with the families of the deceased and lamented that their deaths might have been preventable had adequate safety precautions been observed. He urged all stakeholders to prioritize safety measures to avert future mishaps.
The governor offered prayers for the repose of the departed souls and sought divine strength for the families, friends, and associates of the victims to cope with their loss during this difficult time.
