Delta High Court Grants Out-of-Court Settlement to Brownhill Investment Company and Davido

In a recent development, a Delta High Court in Effurun has approved an out-of-court settlement between Brownhill Investment Company, owned by former President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, and popular musician David Adeleke, known as Davido.

Justice Michael Obi of High Court Three, Effurun, lauded both parties for their willingness to resolve the dispute amicably outside the courtroom, acknowledging their efforts in reaching a mutual agreement.

“I commend both parties for exploring an amicable resolution to settle out of court,” remarked Justice Obi, underscoring the constructive approach taken by both parties in resolving the matter.

Brownhill Investment Company had initiated legal action against Davido and his music label, Davido Music Worldwide Limited, in October 2023, alleging a breach of contract related to their performance at the 19th edition of the ‘Warri Again Concert.’

The lawsuit sought N2 billion in general damages from the defendants for their failure to honor the concert contract, along with N150 million for legal and professional fees, in addition to N30 million for filing costs.

In response to the court’s decision, counsel for the defendants, Mr. Oladayo Ogungbe, revealed that both parties had successfully reached an out-of-court settlement, with Davido agreeing to perform at another event in Warri on October 4 as part of the settlement terms.
