Afrobeats sensation, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has refuted rumors circulating in some media outlets claiming that he was arrested during his East Africa tour on April 1, 2024.
Contrary to reports suggesting his arrest, Davido clarified his status via a statement released through his official handle on Tuesday. He clarified that his tour in Uganda and Kenya was successful, and he has safely returned to Nigeria without any legal issues.
Addressing the unfounded allegations, Davido stated firmly that he has never been arrested for any crime throughout his illustrious career. Expressing his dismay at the spread of false information, particularly in light of April Fools’ Day, Davido announced his intention to pursue legal action against those responsible for perpetuating the baseless rumors.
“I find the fabrication of allegations of such international crimes extremely irresponsible regardless of the light of ‘April Fools’, and my lawyer is seeking legal recourse against the media parties responsible for generating this misinformation,” the statement read in part.
