Davido Credits Afrobeats Legends for Global Success of Nigerian Artists

Renowned singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has attributed the global success of the current generation of Nigerian artists to the sacrifices made by Afrobeats legends such as 2Baba, D’banj, and P-Square.

In the latest episode of The Bridge Show, Davido emphasized the pivotal role played by these iconic artists in paving the way for the current wave of Nigerian music to make waves globally. He underscored the importance of recognizing the sacrifices made by the veterans, stating, “What D’banj, P-Square and 2Face sacrificed for us is what we are enjoying now.”

Reflecting on his own experience, Davido recalled the challenges he faced upon signing with an international record label in 2016. Despite his status as a superstar in Africa, the label initially overlooked his achievements, prompting him to assert his worth. He recounted, “When we come and sign record deals overseas, they don’t know that we are superstars back home. I came straight from Mali where I performed at 60,000-capacity stadium to sign the deal.”
