Davido Claims Global Leadership in Afrobeats Genre

Famed Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has boldly asserted his position as the foremost figure in the global Afrobeats scene.

In an exclusive interview with Billboard’s Nadine Graham, the head of DMW Records swiftly corrected an interviewer’s attempt to confine his influence to the United States, asserting his dominance “everywhere.”

“I’m not just leading Afrobeats in the US; I’m leading everywhere,” Davido declared, underlining his expansive reach and influence in the music industry.

With an unshakeable confidence in his artistry, Davido expressed his desire for audiences worldwide to anticipate “Just good music.” He even highlighted the universality of his appeal by revealing, “people in jail have heard my music.”

Davido offered insight into his future projects, divulging that he is currently immersed in crafting two distinct albums. One album is tailored for the African audience, while the other is tailored for his growing American fanbase, showcasing his ambition to captivate diverse musical landscapes.

Amidst his myriad collaborations, Davido singled out “2 AM” featuring Casanova and Tory Lanez as his favorite. He explained that the track’s fusion of Canadian, Nigerian, and American elements resonated deeply with him, symbolizing a harmonious blend of cultures through music.
