The Federal High Court in Lagos has delivered a decisive verdict, sentencing the polarizing figure in the online community, Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, to six months behind bars. Justice Abimbola Awogboro, presiding over the case, pronounced the sentence without the possibility of a fine.
Bobrisky, a prominent cross-dresser and social media personality, found himself entangled in legal troubles after being apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged abuse of the local currency. Since his arrest last week, he has remained in the custody of the EFCC, awaiting the outcome of his trial.
The controversial celebrity’s legal woes deepened when he pleaded guilty on April 5 to a four-count charge of Naira abuse leveled against him by the anti-graft agency. This admission of guilt culminated in the court’s decision to impose a six-month prison sentence, marking a significant turn in the ongoing legal saga surrounding Bobrisky.
