Controversial Draw: Ben Whittaker and Liam Cameron Tumble Out of the Ring in Dramatic Boxing Bout

A light-heavyweight showdown between Ben Whittaker and Liam Cameron in Saudi Arabia took an unexpected and bizarre turn when both fighters fell out of the ring, resulting in a rare split-decision technical draw.

The incident occurred in the fifth round when Olympian Whittaker, 27, was backed against the ropes and appeared to pull Cameron, 33, towards him as they locked arms, sending both men tumbling over the ropes. Whittaker was left lying on the canvas in visible pain, receiving medical attention for an ankle injury and a potential back issue.

The match, held in Riyadh under the British Boxing Board of Control’s regulations, was ruled a draw after being stopped due to the accidental injury. The judges scored the fight 58-57 in favor of each fighter, with a third scoring it 58-58, leading to the split-decision draw.

Cameron, frustrated by the result, was the only fighter present in the ring when the scorecards were read. He expressed his dissatisfaction, saying, “He [Whittaker] had nothing left. Kid was knackered from round two. I definitely beat him. I don’t get a fair share [in fights]. What more do I have to do?”

When asked whether he believed Whittaker was looking for a way out of the fight, Cameron responded, “Yeah. 100%. You can see it on camera. I don’t want to be critical of him.”

Whittaker was taken to the hospital for further evaluation after receiving treatment for his injuries inside Kingdom Arena.
