Confusion Arises Over Alleged Looting of NEMA Warehouse in FCT

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has refuted claims of looting at its warehouse in Gwagwa-Karimo, a suburb in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Contrary to circulating reports, NEMA’s spokesperson, Manzo Ezekiel, clarified that their warehouse remains untouched amidst the unrest.

In a telephone conversation with our correspondent, Ezekiel emphasized, “Our NEMA warehouse is intact, the one that was looted does not belong to NEMA.”

However, it has come to light that the warehouse subjected to looting is owned by FCT Agric, according to sources familiar with the situation. The incident saw residents seizing foodstuffs and other items from the facility.

Responding to the unrest, personnel from the Nigeria Police Force were promptly dispatched to the area to disperse the looters and ensure the security of the building.

Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT command, confirmed the incident via text message, stating, “The situation is now under control.”
