Commuters Call for Urgent Replacement of Damaged Barricade in Abeokuta

Commuters in the Panseke area of Abeokuta South Local Government Area, Ogun State, are urging the state government to replace a damaged barricade under a pedestrian bridge, warning of potential accidents and loss of lives. Commuters expressed concern over the deteriorating state of the bridge, which has led many to abandon it and cross the road amidst speeding vehicles.

Observations by our correspondent revealed the damaged metal barricade used to barricade the median, with some sections completely removed and others on the verge of collapsing. Rilwan, a commuter, highlighted the danger posed by the damaged barricade and urged the government to take swift action to prevent accidents.

Another commuter, Peter Godwin, cited pollution around the bridge as a deterrent, forcing commuters to risk crossing the road instead. He emphasized the need for the government to address environmental cleanliness to ensure the safety of pedestrians.

Despite attempts to reach the Ogun State Commissioner for Works, Ade Akinsanya, for comment, there has been no response to messages or calls. Commuters stress the urgency of replacing the damaged barricade to avert potential tragedies and safeguard lives on the busy highway.
