Chidimma Adetshina Opens Up About Identity Struggles and Miss Universe Dream

Nigerian-South African beauty queen Chidimma Adetshina has revealed the personal challenges she has faced in her pageantry journey, particularly grappling with identity issues related to her dual citizenship. In a recent interview on the Big Friday Show with host Tacha from Big Brother Naija, Chidimma shared her experience and aspirations, including her long-held dream of becoming Miss Universe.

Reflecting on her decision to pursue pageantry full-time, Chidimma said, “I think it’s something I started recently; however, I’ve had this dream since 2017 to become the next Miss Universe. I’m really glad I have been given the platform and the opportunity to at least try and reach that goal.”

Chidimma also opened up about the emotional toll of dealing with an identity crisis. “It has been a long journey, so hard at times. I would cry myself to sleep, questioning ‘Why me?’. I had to shift my perspective to see potential greatness emerging from these challenges,” she revealed.

This interview follows Chidimma’s controversial exit from the Miss South Africa pageant, amid allegations of fraud and identity theft involving her mother by the South African Home Office. Despite facing criticism during her announcement as a Miss South Africa contestant, Chidimma has continued her pageantry career. She recently accepted an invitation from the Silverbird Group to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.
