Chelsea have finalized the £5 million signing of Barcelona’s teenage striker Marc Guiu on a five-year contract with an option for an additional year. The Blues reached an agreement last week to activate the 18-year-old’s release clause, securing the Spain Under-19 international to enhance their attacking lineup.
Barcelona attempted to retain Guiu by offering a contract extension that would remove his modest release clause. However, Chelsea successfully acquired the La Masia academy graduate, known for his speed and power as a number nine, despite his limited experience.
Guiu made a notable debut for Barcelona by scoring just 23 seconds into his first match against Athletic Bilbao in 2023. Although he has only two goals in seven senior appearances, he is expected to be part of Chelsea’s first team. The club, led by Enzo Maresca, is still considering additional attacking signings this summer.
