American rapper Cardi B has thrown her support behind Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party’s candidate for the upcoming United States presidential election. Cardi B, who had previously suggested Harris should be the candidate after President Joe Biden’s debate with Republican candidate Donald Trump, expressed her excitement at Biden’s decision to step down and endorse Harris.
President Joe Biden announced on Sunday that he would not seek re-election, instead endorsing his vice president as the Democratic Party’s flagbearer. Reacting to the news on her X handle, Cardi B wrote, “Aha hahaha let’s go! I told y’all Kamala [Harris] was supposed to be the 2024 candidate… Stop f*ckin playin with me!”
In May, Cardi B told Rolling Stone that she would not vote in the November election if the major candidates were Biden and Trump, expressing her dissatisfaction with both. She described Trump as “a dire threat” and voiced her disappointment with Biden, citing “layers and layers of disappointment” due to perceived domestic and foreign mismanagement.
