CAN Urged to Act as Fake Miracles Tarnish Christian Faith

Nigerian actor Ogbonna has called on the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the federal government to take action against the rising trend of “fake miracles” in some churches. In a recent Instagram post, Ogbonna condemned pastors who exploit vulnerable individuals by faking miracles for personal gain, labeling such actions as a betrayal of the gospel.

“It is heartbreaking to see pastors faking miracles to deceive and exploit the vulnerable people. These acts stain the true essence of Christianity, turning faith into a spectacle for selfish gain,” he stated.

Ogbonna emphasized the damage caused by these fraudulent acts, citing broken trust, manipulated faith, and exploitation for profit. He urged Christians to resist social media trends that mock their beliefs and warned that true miracles do not come from deception.

He also urged CAN and the government to regulate and hold these bad actors accountable, adding, “Christianity is not fraud, manipulation, or mockery. Let’s stand to protect the integrity of our faith!”

His post comes in the wake of viral testimonies from members of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, where individuals claimed to have experienced miraculous escapes from kidnappers and attacks. One elderly woman recounted how she reportedly gained control of armed robbers’ guns by proclaiming, “I’m a chosen,” while another man claimed a lion saved him from kidnappers by flying him to safety.
