Caitlin Clark Breaks WNBA Assist Record as Indiana Fever Fall to Las Vegas Aces

Caitlin Clark set a new WNBA single-season assist record during the Indiana Fever’s 78-74 loss to the Las Vegas Aces on Friday. Clark equaled the previous record of 316 assists, set by Alyssa Thomas last year, in the second quarter, before surpassing it in the third. The 22-year-old rookie ended the game with nine assists, bringing her season total to 321, and added 18 points.

Clark, a standout former college star, has had an exceptional debut season, leading the WNBA in both assists and three-pointers made. Her record-breaking performance comes just days after A’ja Wilson of the Aces set the single-season points record with 971 points, surpassing Jewell Loyd’s 2022 mark of 939.

Wilson contributed 15 points in Friday’s game, while Chelsea Gray led the Aces with 21 points. With three games remaining, Wilson is on track to become the first player in WNBA history to reach 1,000 points in a single season.
