Burnley Condemns “Tragedy Chanting” During Match Against Manchester United

Burnley Football Club has strongly condemned the “tragedy chanting” that occurred during their recent 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Despite being second-bottom in the Premier League, Burnley managed to secure a late equalizer during Saturday’s match, earning a crucial point. However, the positive result was overshadowed by disturbing behavior from a section of the away supporters.

In a statement issued after the match, Burnley FC addressed the offensive footage circulating on social media, depicting offensive gesturing and chanting in the away end. The club emphasized that such behavior is completely unacceptable, reaffirming their zero-tolerance stance against any form of misconduct.

Furthermore, Burnley FC pledged to collaborate with law enforcement agencies, including Greater Manchester Police and Lancashire Police, as well as Manchester United, to identify and prosecute the individuals responsible for the inappropriate behavior.

This incident comes in the wake of similar occurrences, with last month witnessing the arrest of two individuals on suspicion of tragedy chanting during the Manchester United vs. Liverpool FA Cup match at Old Trafford.
