Nigerian music stars Burna Boy and Odumodublvck failed to secure wins at the 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards, leaving the event without trophies. Burna Boy was nominated for the Best Live Performer award but lost to Missy Elliott, while Odumodublvck was in the running for the Best International Flow category, which was won by British rapper Ghetts.
The night’s biggest disappointment came for Megan Thee Stallion, who had led the nominations with 12 but left the ceremony without any wins. In contrast, Kendrick Lamar dominated the event, taking home eight awards out of his 11 nominations, cementing his status as the night’s biggest winner.
The awards, held on October 15, showcased the dynamic range of talent within the hip-hop industry, but the Nigerian contingent left without recognition this year.
