Bukayo Saka Withdraws from England Squad Due to Injury Ahead of Brazil and Belgium Friendlies

Bukayo Saka, the 22-year-old Arsenal winger, has been forced to withdraw from the England squad for upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Belgium due to injury. Saka has been unable to participate in training since joining the international camp and has returned to Arsenal for continued rehabilitation.

The Football Association (FA) confirmed Saka’s absence, stating that he reported to St George’s Park earlier in the week with an injury that has prevented his involvement in training sessions. This setback comes as a blow to England manager Gareth Southgate, who will now be without Saka for the upcoming matches against Brazil and Belgium.

Saka’s withdrawal leaves Southgate with a smaller squad as England prepares for their final matches before the Euro 2024 tournament. With only two more scheduled games following the international break, England’s coaching staff will need to adapt their plans without the influential winger.

Saka’s absence from the national team also impacts Arsenal, who are set to face title rivals Manchester City on March 31. The young winger has been in excellent form for his club this season, contributing 16 goals, including 13 in the Premier League.

Since making his debut for England in 2020, Saka has become a key figure in Southgate’s squad, earning praise for his performances on the international stage. His contribution was recognized when he was named England men’s player of the year for two consecutive seasons, highlighting his importance to the team.
