Bronny James, the son of NBA legend LeBron James, has announced his decision to enter the 2024 NBA Draft. This move comes less than a year after the 19-year-old experienced a cardiac arrest during practice at the University of Southern California (USC). Despite undergoing surgery to address a congenital heart defect, Bronny made a remarkable return to the court, debuting for USC in December.
The prospect of sharing the basketball court with his son has been a longstanding desire for LeBron James, who currently plays for the Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron has openly expressed his aspiration to play alongside Bronny, stating in a 2023 interview with ESPN: “I need to be on the floor with my boy, I got to be on the floor with Bronny.”
Taking to Instagram to share his decision, Bronny expressed gratitude for the support he has received throughout his journey. He stated, “I’ve had a year with some ups and downs but all added to growth for me as a man, student, and athlete.” Bronny also announced his intention to maintain his college eligibility while entering the NBA Draft and entering the NCAA transfer portal.
Bronny’s decision marks a significant step forward in his basketball career, following in the footsteps of his father, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in NBA history. LeBron James recently achieved the milestone of becoming the first NBA player to score 40,000 career points.
The 2024 NBA Draft is scheduled to take place on June 26-27, where basketball fans eagerly anticipate Bronny James’ potential entry into the professional league.
