In a recent interview with Kaya 959, South African artist Black Coffee, whose real name is Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo, opened up about his disappointment over his estranged wife, Enhle Mbali’s, reaction to an expensive gift he presented to her during their marriage.
According to the Grammy-winning DJ, he had purchased a lavish car for Mbali, expecting a joyous and appreciative response. However, he expressed feeling let down as her reaction was not what he anticipated. Black Coffee stated, “The response wasn’t what I expected; she wasn’t excited. I expected her to even cry, but she was just like; ‘Oh, nice, thank you.’ And it sat with me heavily for a long time as someone who was not appreciating.”
The revelation comes in the aftermath of the couple’s separation in 2019, where Mbali accused Black Coffee of infidelity and abuse. The ‘We Dance Again’ DJ, who fathered two children with other women during their marriage, sheds light on a poignant moment that reflects the complexities of their relationship.
