Filmmaker and media entrepreneur Samuel Olatunji, popularly known as Bigsam, recently opened up about his role in shaping the career of popular actress Toyin Abraham. During an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Bigsam shared stories about Toyin’s early struggles and his efforts to guide her toward success.
Bigsam, who served as Toyin’s publicist and mentor, revealed that he once had to ask the actress to shave her armpits before an important meeting. He explained that this was part of his commitment to ensuring she presented herself well as she navigated the challenges of the entertainment industry.
Reflecting on Toyin’s journey, Bigsam said, “If you don’t manage an artiste to the point where they feel that you are sleeping with the person, you are doing a ritual with the person, you are not yet fulfilled. Because you are their father, mother, and their pastor.”
He also highlighted Toyin’s dedication to improving her life, recounting how he helped her purchase a house in Ibadan and even surprised her with the documents after she got married. Bigsam emphasized that Toyin’s success was a result of her hard work and commitment to change.
“There was a time we needed to go and see somebody. I went out to buy shaving sticks for Toyin, shaved the armpits so that if the armpits stand, people should not see. So people should credit Toyin because she was committed to having a better life,” he said.
