Bayer Leverkusen Edge AC Milan to Maintain Perfect Champions League Start

Bayer Leverkusen continued their unbeaten run in the Champions League with a tense 1-0 victory over AC Milan. Victor Boniface scored the decisive goal in the 51st minute, tapping in the rebound after Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan saved Jeremie Frimpong’s initial effort.

While Leverkusen dominated much of the match, Milan nearly equalized late on when Theo Hernandez’s deflected long-range shot struck the crossbar with seven minutes left. Alvaro Morata also came close, heading narrowly wide on the rebound.

Leverkusen, who had a goal ruled out for offside in the first half after Boniface netted from a Frimpong cross, had been in control until Milan’s late push. This win follows Leverkusen’s 4-0 thrashing of Feyenoord in their opener, while Milan remain winless after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool in their first game.
